Well, my latest motoring film, TVR is Back hit 1,200 views in its first two days of being published, and I feel I need to say a quick thank you for the support I get with all my projects, but particularly with this one.
The best thing about producing films, is knowing you’re giving people enjoyment. It’s a strange transition – you go from enjoying media content, to making it for other people to enjoy.
I’ve been sent links to various threads discussing my motoring content, and it’s always good to know that I’m encouraging conversation about cars – I’m grateful for any feedback, and appreciate it all.
Here are a few of the things I’ve enjoyed reading – thanks again!
Every petrolhead remembers their first TVR experience. For that reason, the news that the iconic brand is set to return to our roads – and from a UK manufacturing base – is incredibly good news.
So good, I decided to look up some TVR owners and tell the story behind the passion. ‘TVR is Back’ is my latest motoring film, and I’ve released a preview of what’s to come.
You can expect atmosphere, emotion, noise and tyre smoke. Featuring iconic supercars including the Tuscan Speed 6, the Sagaris and the Chimaera.
I can’t wait to share the full feature with you. But for now…
To coincide with the release of my latest motoring film, my site has had a slight refresh. Things have changed since I first embarked on this journey, and the best way I could sum up what I’m about was with three words; Present. Produce. Drive.
I hope you like the new look, and my latest film – as you can see, Toyota were looking forward to seeing it. Have you seen it yet?
You’ll like my next one even more – with the exciting news that TVR is to make a return to the realm of the supercar, I will be filming a very special TVR-themed film in the next week.
For now, here’s my latest motoring film, starring the surprisingly good Toyota GT86…as always I appreciate all the support from you guys!
One of the best things that can come from a car review is finding a new car to add to your fantasy garage. And spending some time with the Toyota GT86 put it firmly in mine.
I drive a lot of sports cars; some are overrated, some are underrated, some are just awesome in the extreme, but very few offer back to basics motoring fun in the same way that an MG Midget, or a Lotus Elan does.
Quite honestly, I wasn’t expecting to be as blown away by the GT86 as I was. Frankly, it’s an astonishing car, inspiring confidence and offering reward for the simple things in life. Like putting your right foot on the carpet.
The full film will be released soon, but in the meantime, I’ve released a trailer which gives you an idea of just how much of an enigma this car is.
Thanks for all your support, views, comments and feedback on my motoring films – I really do enjoy making them for you, and to know they stir a reaction – positive or negative – means I’m getting another person talking about cars. That, in my world, is a result.
I’m delighted to let you know that my latest motoring film, “That Alfa Romeo Petrolhead Thing” is now live – you can watch it in the ‘Motoring Films’ section of my site, HERE.
A big thank you must go to Z-Tech Engineering, who kindly sponsored the film. If you’re interested in getting your name out in front of a large, engaged motoring audience please get in touch about sponsoring the next film.
Oh, talking of which – here’s a tease. Can you guess what I’ll be driving and what the story will be?
At Special Stage, we are currently trialling a live broadcast service, which is hosted at http://www.livestream.com, and we thought we’d open up our trial to the rally world.
I’m really proud of the work the whole team is doing, it really feels like we are leading what’s happening in rally television production, and the appreciation for us doing our test in public was clear to see at the Plains Rally, the latest round of the 2015 BTRDA Rally Championship.
At the moment, we are restricted by where we can get signal, which is why this broadcast was based in the service area, or specifically at the time control on entrance to service. But being able to make live content away from the stages is just as important, and in theory much harder to make watchable.
You can view what we’re doing on our live stream account, but we’ve put one of the broadcasts on Youtube for you to see what we did. Remember – this is only the start, the possibilities are endless, and very exciting!
For my next car review, I thought I’d explore something which crops up a lot, whether I’m talking to people about cars, or browsing social media and the internet at large – the question of Alfa Romeo ownership.
To own or not to own – while Jeremy Clarkson suggests you cannot be a petrolhead until you’ve owned and Alfa, I would argue you can’t even consider aspiring to be one if you haven’t at least once pondered this very question.
So I’ve pondered it for you, using my own Alfa Romeo – a 2008 159 1.9 JDTM Lusso. I’m just waiting to finalise some things with the film itself, but I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you soon – there are some myths in here that I’ve been wanting to publicly bust for ages.
For now, here’s a trailer to give you a taste of what’s to come in my next film…
For my latest motoring product review, I enlisted the help of my two boys to add a new dimension.
It’s difficult to pitch car and product reviews right, but usually a bit of comedy relief helps, and cuteness always works. My boys love to get involved with my work, and even at seven and six months they both love their cars.
I feel very blessed to have such a supportive, enthusiastic family behind me, who inspire me and share my passion for motoring media. I’m hoping one day I can make them very proud, but for now it is them who make me proud, in my latest review film for Ring Automotive.
Check out my latest video here.
I’m very excited about this – on Saturday the Special Stage Team will be in Somerset filming for the third round of the BTRDA Rally Championship for the TV series.
I’ll be working with Producer Wayne as usual, switching between link pieces along the route of the rally and interviews at various stages. But this time, we’ve added something else to the plan – we’ll be conducting our first live stream from the event.
Because this is a trial run, and depends on the satellite wifi working properly in the location we’ll be filming from in order to support the stream, it’s not being widely publicised. But this is my invitation to you, to check out how we get on – be the first people to watch Special Stage live, online.
Here’s what you need to do…
Sign up for an account at http://www.livestream.com, which simply involves putting in your email address, then following the link in the email you receive to set up a username and password. It’s all self-explanatory. Then click on this link and ‘follow’ Special Stage – http://livestream.com/accounts/10256167.
You’ll then receive a notification when we’re coming online to start streaming. But if you don’t trust your notifications and don’t want to risk missing this exciting first live broadcast from Special Stage, why not get on to Twitter where you’ll be the first to know about that…and pretty much everything else!
I’m looking forward to filming the TV show, which incidentally is the first round of the new BTRDA mixed surface challenge, with Somerset and the Manx being the first two qualifying rounds. And I’m looking forward to seeing you at certain points through the day for some live #RallyTV coverage.
Thanks for all your continued support – remember; rally programmes, for rally fans, made by rally fans.
