This is Paul Woodford’s website, so you’d expect to read all good things. But don’t just take our word for it – here’s a selection of testimonials from people who Paul has presented shows for, hosted events for, or represented…
“Paul and Alex, you both worked so hard and so incredibly well together, and you handled the whole event with such wonderful poise considering it was often quite last minute to grab people or fill the channel for a couple more minutes while we put something else in place. Your motorsports knowledge really shone through, and I’ve had a lot of great feedback from all the GKN staff you’ve met who’ve said how lovely you both were and how comfortable you made them.”
Scott Mackintosh, GKN Plc (Commissioning – Formula Student LIVE TV)
His input into the television coverage goes beyond just turning up to present. Paul always researches and plans well for shows, as well as being in his element taking things as they come on the day.
I have no doubt that he will continue to be the face of the Special Stage TV show for many years to come.”
Wayne Goldring – Special Stage Rally Review
“Great Escape Cars has developed a relationship with Paul Woodford over the last year. Initially this began as a mutually beneficial exercise where we supplied cars for Paul to film – this helped his exposure on social media and gave us videos of our cars in action. We had no prior knowledge of each other and were recommended via mutual social media contacts.
I was immediately impressed by the quality of Paul’s work, even more so when I discovered the very limited equipment he uses to create his films. Although there are plenty of people trying to create car films, Paul’s stand out for the scripting, editing and production. This medium needs to engage to work and Paul is extremely effective at delivering exactly that. As a result of the initial success of Paul’s first film, we began supplying cars to Paul regularly and built up an excellent library of films. These have been instrumental in helping us engage with our audience – because they bring the idea of driving a classic car to life.
Prior to working with Paul I had no experience of using film for social media and internet promotion. Paul’s films demonstrated how powerful this could be and I commissioned him to create a video to promote our classic road trips.
Paul very quickly grasped the essence of these experiences – that the message was about how they made people feel, rather than the nuts and bolts of how it worked. His insight meant it was not necessary for me to provide a detailed brief, a list of key messages or a structure – all things I would normally consider essential. Paul quickly gave me the confidence that he understood what my business is about, what was required and I felt it unnecessary to hamper him by proscribing my own views. This proved a wise choice as the resulting film was considerably better than anything I could have briefed. Filmed entirely on an iPad, the 4 minute film effectively conveys our classic road trips experience without appearing to preach a corporate message.
My background is in marketing and I have worked with many freelancers and agencies. In all cases it has been necessary to carefully brief what I want and, invariably, heavily tweak or reset the initial drafts because the creative does not reflect what the business needs. I am genuinely surprised by Paul’s ability to circumvent this process – by understanding the essence of the task and making it happen quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively. This is a genuinely rare skill.
Many marketers are either ‘strategic’ or ‘creative’, approaching tasks from a marketing theory or an idea basis. Paul is a rare combination of both – a good strategist who is also very creative, but does not allow one to dominate the other.”
Graham Eason – Great Escape Cars
“Paul has worked with us as a roaming MC at our large event ( VW Festival ) in Leeds for the past few years. He has turned out to be a valuable asset to our team, and he is very easy to work with, requiring minimal input from us. He is able to manage his own time, rather than be prompted or checked. He develops his own ideas on the spot, and is able to turn his hand to anything, whether it’s introducing the next band to 2,000 people in our music marquee, or keeping the crowd entertained before and during our Show and Shine awards.
I’d highly recommend him for a similar position at any event.”
Paul Scott – VW Festival
“Paul put in a lot of time and a great deal of effort to help us launch our new TV sports programme, On The Bench. Coming on board as a lead presenter from the beginning, Paul’s professional approach to everything that he did, both in front and behind the camera, helped the show to form a strong audience at launch, and continue to build a loyal following and become a firm favourite on the channel on which it broadcasts.”
Tom Hughes – Estuary TV
“Paul has over the last 3 year has helped us create an amazing flagship event for the community at Christmas time. Paul has taken time to get to know the back ground of the event and the community we serve to help him present the best way he can.
Paul presents the main live stage and official light switch on with ease. Paul has a special gift for warming the crowd and talking to the entertainers to put them at ease before they perform. His communication with me the event organiser and the sound technicians is the key to Paul’s success as a presenter.
He knows exactly what is on his stage and at what time. The Freedom Centre would welcome Paul to present any of our shows without any question.”
Tony Forrester – Freedom Centre, Hull
“I have known and worked closely with Paul for over three years while he has been a presenter for Special Stage TV covering the BTRDA Rally Championship, the largest rally series in the UK.
Paul presents up to 10 events for us each year, which are broadcast on Freeview and Digital channels within the UK and throughout Europe. There has been a significant increase in interest in the Championship over these years, both from competitors and spectators whose first involvement has been through viewing the programmes and Paul on television.
He uses social media to very good effect and is now widely known and recognised. This has also created additional benefits for us in maintaining and increasing sponsorship opportunities. Commentating on a rally event is a constantly changing situation but Paul’s professional manner, considerable interviewing skills and background knowledge of the sport and competitors, always ensures the very highest standard of presentation.
As a result of all these factors Paul was to Compere our Annual Dinner and Awards presentation for the past two years, entertaining our sponsors and over 200 guests. These abilities were also recognised when Paul was asked to carry out interviews of competitors on the highly prestigious Wales Rally GB in 2014, the final round of the World Rally Championship.
Paul is a very valuable asset to our Championship and is greatly respected amongst competitors and programme viewers. We hope the partnership continues for many years and would highly recommend him for similar positions.”
Steve Gregg – BTRDA Rally Championship Co-ordinator

“We always involve Paul with our new car launches and regular F1 events. He has taken the time to learn about our different models and fully involves himself with a passion and love for the brand which is evident to see by all who attends.
He has carried out road test videos of our vehicles which we are always excited to see and which get a good response on social media, helping Infiniti with it’s brand awareness.
It is a real pleasure working with Paul and we look forward to welcoming him back later this month as he assists us with the launch of our new model; the Q30.
We hope our friendship lasts many years and would not hesitate to recommend Paul to host your event – he really does put his all into everything he does. “
